CENTER-RIGHT GOVERNMENT IN ESTONIA

We are please to note that it now seems likely that Estonia next week will have a centre-right government. The new government will lead by incumbent Prime Minister Andrus Ansip of the liberal Reform Party, accompanied by 5 ministers from his party, in coalition with IDU member Pro Patria and Res Publica Union with 5 ministers and the Social Democrats with 3 ministers.Pro Patria and Res Publica Union will have the following portfolios: Speaker of the Parliament and the Ministers of Defence, Education, Agriculture, Economy and Regional affairs. The leader of Pro Patria and Res Publica Union, former PM Mart Laar, has announced that he is not going to take a ministerial post in the new government and wishes to concentrate on building up the party. Mr Laar said that PPRPU now needs its leader's full commitment to win the next elections. Mr Laar is expected to lead the Parliamentary Group of the Pro Patria and Res Publica Union.
